相约北美 / 探亲团聚 / Advise please!!! 父母移民-Status was changed to 17 on Nov 16,2010. They are currently in Toronto and their visa will be expired on Nov 24. Would it be legal if they receive their landing paper after Nov 24 (without visa renewal)? Thanks in advance!

这护照不是要交上去的么？既然已经交上去了，就是expire了，你也没办法renew啊。只有等护照+移民vis下来啦。

过期了没有renew当然是非法的，但是出境回国应该没有问题的。没有人报移民局就不会有人赶他们出境，拿到护照赶紧托人带过来或者邮寄过来，然后去边境登陆吧。反正我知道，就算你现在去renew也要100多天才会有消息。具体我不清楚，还是问问有经验的人吧。

By the way, they will mail passport and landing paper to Canada as we had changed mailing address long time ago.

Immigrant visa can NEVER be renewed or extended for any reason...the only exeception so far was during "9/11 in 2001". In your case, inform BJ the expiry date and they will ask your parents to re-do medicals.Actually BJ should ask if your parents can get landing by that date...if you say NO, they then will re-issue new medical forms. Good luck.

Hi Linda. My parents currently hold a visit visa in Toronto. They had applied PR in Beijing back to 2007.Right now their case got updated and they should be able to get their landing paper shortly.
But their visit visa will be expired on Nov 24. Should I renew now or the Landing paper will be good enough for them to wait after Nov 24. Thanks!

file extension application before Nov. 24 (make sure they receive it by then); if they get landed by the time CPC-Vegreville processes their extension, they will refund the processing fees to you due to the PR status obtained.

yes, they can find out from their own system. You of course no harm to call call centre for refund. THIS REFUND CAN ONLY BE DONE IF Vegreville has not started to process the extension application.

直接给移民局打电话，告诉他们你父母的情况，问他们该怎么办，他们不会不讲道理的让他们马上离境的。以前我爸爸又一次签证续签被拒，我提前四周申请，但得到通知的时候前面的签证早就过期一个月了。给移民局打电话问该怎么办，他们说你两周后离开就可以，我订票后又告诉他们我买到的机票是三周后的，因为再早的机票太贵，他们也接受了。我觉得最重要的是你要告诉他们你的情况。
