枫下家园 / 电脑用户 / I use a win2000 server machine as my router. In the router I can connect both to the external and internal network. But I can not connect from internal to external. It seems that the IP forwarding is not on. How to do?

up, both the internal and external network is in private IP space(192..., 10,...). I guess it is the culprit. I don't want to NAT , any suggestion??

With a private ip address config on win2000 server WAN NIC, how do you make sure the external connection (to your ISP?) works?

in routing and remote access server, just turn on the IP ROUTING

IP ROUTING option is used to forward packets from one interface to another interface. If u do not enable it, PC on one subnet can only reach the router/server, but not the other subnet.

Static route is enough, no need to turn on routing protocol.

I have tried everything I could, including what mentioned above, I am failed. Both of the two networks have hundreds of machine. I don't want to use static IP.

Need more information about your network.....Hundreds of machine?! I thought you only have a couple of them. Is that win2000 server the only connection point between two subnets? If yes, it's not a good design. Need more information of your network to figure out the problem. BTW, why you mention static IP here?
