Any suggestion on my situationDo you think if it is still worthwhile for us to go to USA now.
I have a professional job in a small town. LP has a professional job as well. One boy is in grade one.
We are both engineering background and close to 40s
Life is quiet and boring.
Do you guys think we are too old to go to USA and start over again.
Any suggestion are highly appreciated.

It depends on,
1.if you can secure a job there.
2.if your wife can find a job there, assuming she wants to work instead of staying home.
It is not quite easy to find a job in the states now, good luck.

2 cents1. hard for your couple to find a job in same city in USA
so family income might not change significantly if only one people works
2.In the end, life is same no matter where u r, especially having kids
3.You might worry about ur visa when moving to USA.
Regardless, Canada is your home country like China for now but it is hard to get such feeling in USA.
Again, it is up to u.

Thanks 'happy home town' s encouragement.I am wondering how long It usually takes to get a green card. It is going to take six to ten years.I would be close to 50s. what if I will move back to Canada after 60. It seems I have to keep move for next two or three decade.
Still I am thinking go USA is right thing to do. I just need some external force to help me go toward this path.
How the job market look like in States?

Lets think about it from another perspective. If you work in the US and your income is in USD, then naturally you diversify your asset.I have been in the US for less than a month. So, if you ask me have you got what you wanted, I would say Yes because of the warm weather and cheap housing.

it is not worthwhile to pay social security on your every paycheck for so many years, and might not be able to get anything back at the end even though u might get green card after many yrs.
