What are some of the interviews questions US employers will ask, because they usually know little about Canada?1. About your previous employer, e.g. what is Bell Canada? What is TD?
2. About your industry in Canada, e.g. Tell me about the Telecom/IT industry in Canada; Tell me about the banking industry in Canada
what other questions have you been asked before?

In my experience, they don't ask about Canada, so focus on the technical questions. At most they talk about Canada to warm you up. I bet most of them know about Bell Canada and TD.

maybe because you were in NYC area. when I worked for a top US carrier, I didn't know - or care to know, a thing about Bell or Telus. So experience from canadian firms/people were discounted.

How do you know they discount Canadian experience? Maybe it's your assumption affecting your judgement? I interviewed in quite a few places and never felt the supposed discounting.

I did the discounting while on the other side of the table - you can't credit something you don't know

Very few Americans know Bell and Telus at all. Most Americans do not care about Canada. Some assume that a special relationship exists but more think that Canada is just a different country. As for Canadian working experience, depend on the company. Some big companies will acknowledge it, but not because it is Canadian, but because they recognize all foreign experiences, such as from India. Most middle and small companies won't recognize non-US experience at all but they do not tell you so. For example, if you work in US for 3 years, Canada 5 years, managers will consider you only have 3 years "validatable" experience.
