I applied UI thru the state UI dept directly and learned the lesson, although I won the case finally.
The phone number 1 877 486-1650 is the best resource you can trust. They are specialized in the subject matter, not like the other Service Canada staff.

UI is non-means-tested benefit which I do not see it impacts Green Card application, although I'm not applying GC at the moment. Appreciate if you could explain it more in detail and any cases for references.

i dont know the process for GC...but i did protest to the determination of my UI and i won...not sure if you can appeal if the immigration guys deny the case?

据说类似于加拿大的EI,还必须满足另一个条件,就是你要准备随时能工作.这样一来,你不是公民又没有绿卡,几乎你就满足不了随时能工作这条件,就拿不到.因为你想工作,还要等待着申请工作签证,无法满足随时可工作的条件.

you need to be a resident of Canada when you claim UI, as you are authorized to work in Canada. Canada signed the agreement with US to join the UI, interstate.
