It doesn't matter where 'winners' live, it is what they do!If fact, many richest American give up their US citizenship
and become citizen of some small island countries you might
have never heard of.

Not quite true in 电脑人才过剩."政府智库公开承认电脑人才过剩"
I read an article a month ago mentioned something similar. It is an academic research about the resource and HR in Canada. Apparentely, the BS in CS is over supplied. But gradute level talent is still much in need.
Economics wise, Canada is not just extension of American economics. Before north american free trade agreement, only 60% of import/export trading was with states. Now it is 80%. I think Liberal did not do a great job here. :)

I think you moved to Canada very recently, maybe only half a year. Just stay in Canada for 3 more years, you will largh at what you said here.

You are wrong. My Chinese friends in Canada are all very well paid professionals. They are professors at UofT, UW, McMaster etc., bankers at Royal, BMO, TD etc., architectors and principle engineers at Nortel, Rogers etc., and many many more.
I know nobody among my old friends is still "在做小生意,打工" in Canada. These old 留学生 are at least as good as those went to US. However I know plenty of software and hardware engineers in Silicon Valley working as seasonal workers at Walmart, Kmart, and waitors at the restaurants in San Francisco.

I really question your "一番调查". Maybe I myself have been in financial industry for many years, I personally know a significent number of bankers in Royal, BMO and TD who used to be Chinese students..

No. My friends are Ph.D. (mostly in maths), doing deritives for bonds, and interest model for North American, Europe and Japan markets, which are the most difficult financial problems. They are very very well paid.

我感到开便利店,咖啡店也是成功, Hongkong 老移民都在做小生意,Most chinese (in Canada and US) believe in finding a job and work for boss, they don't know that only doing business can make real money.
You laugh at someone being their own boss. You think it's easy? Believe me, not everyone can do it, including you ....
You really need to learn more from our HongKong friend...
When reccesion is coming, watch out who is afraid of being layoff ...
便利店,咖啡店 will laugh in a long run ...

In life, money is not everything, specially when you have a family
you have to consider
- greencard/citizenship,
- family reunion with parent
- education of your kids
- safety of your family member
- chinese culture and community
- how immigrant are treated
- how you feel...
- and money
- and more and more
I don't have to mention how many chinese family in US can unite with parents? how about in Canada?

I have double checked. Affirmative Action Programs are REQUIRED for federal contractors, subcontractors with more than 50 employees and contracts larger than $50,000. But for the others, they are voluntary.SORRY ABOUT THAT.

Hey, thanks for your comments. I don't see any contradiction between us,:). I kind of agree with you that people in the States are exposed to more competition and update themselves more frequently. BTW,what brought you to Canada? just curious.
P.S. There are some polls in Rolia on those issues, but I don't think the sample size is big enough.

This is why I ...........Same reason, I hold my H-1 in Silicon Valley, in the mean time I got my LP so I have to choose keep which status, green card in the states is far away for me, but Canadian card is just around the corner if I landing, this is a simple and typical story for many people just like me. BTW, where is that poll in Rolia?

I'm surprised by some of my fellow immigrants' achievement in Canada. A few have become middle class and started enjoy life in such a short period (say 3 years), which is awesome.
