枫下茶话 / 美国话题 / I worked 8 months in Ontario and 4 months in California last year, could you please give me some information on the following questions?1. For Canadian tax return, I guess everything should be the same as my 2005 tax return, except that I need to put my US income and tax paid in there, is that right? And where to get the Canadian tax forms?
2. For California tax, I should use 540NR, is that right? Should I put my Canadian income in it?
3. For US Federal tax, should I use 1040 or 1040NR? Should I put my Canadian income in it?
Thanks a lot!

1) yes. ask your friend to send you one, or file paperless. 2) NR I guess since less than 6 months. No, because you do not need to report global income to US. 3) same as 2).

It cost me some money to move from Canada to the US, is it possible to claim some moving expense from my tax return? Do I have to provide all the receipts for that? Thanks!

如果不是FULL TIME的话,属于BUSINESS,很多费用是可以CLAIM的,比如车,办公房租,办公用品,电脑,专业书。。。有困难,找会计

官方信息对于deduct moving expense in CanadaMoving expenses
Non-residents are usually not allowed to deduct moving expenses incurred for a move into, or out of, Canada.
However, if you were a full-time student during 2006, and you received a taxable Canadian scholarship, bursary, fellowship, or research grant, you may be eligible to deduct your moving expenses. For more information, get Form T1-M, Moving Expenses Deduction.
