枫下茶话 / 美国话题 / I am working in USA with TN visa and deemed non residence status from Canada Revenue. I have been living in a motel. Can I deduct lodging as business expense or relocation as moving expense to IRS?

请问deemed non residence status from Canada Revenue与 non residence status from Canada Revenue有什么区别呢?我看了加拿大税务局的网站,没有看懂。多谢指教!

deemed non residence status means that you are approved by Canada Revenue not to pay income tax to Canada but only to the country where you are a resident

Can the deemed non residence have residential ties in Canada?

Not home. In order to be considered non resident, you have to match the first tier conditions, the 2 tier conditions are optional or can be ingnored. I still have canadian bank account and driver liscence

R U retarded or something? If you commute every day, then you got to have a residence in Canada. Isn't that obvious, of course, I presume you are not homeless.
A home is a home , no matter it's rented or owned.

If you do not have a regular residence in U.S.A, but commute from Canada to U.S.A to work, you will be definitely deemed as a Canadian resident.

Do you have a home/bitch in Canada? If it is so, then you are resident of Canada for sure, pay tax or face penalty.
You may get foreign tax credit though.

Well, your situation is quite special, I guess the best way is to let CCRA decide. But if you pay income tax in U.S., you can get tas credits, anyway, because of the tax treaty between U.S. and Canada.
