Dear 小猪,
Thank you for the kind words. I went through the interview process once before, late last year into early 2002. This resulted in my hiring Wang whom you met. That effort to make an offer was much easier than this time because the candidates (other than Wang) were not as good as this round from my point of view. After your interview, I had 2 more candidates visit. Each one of you was quite qualified to do the job. I do not think there are any specifics I can point to which would help your future interviews. You did a fine job. It came down to what I call a “gut-feeling”. It is something you just can’t describe in words most of the time. It is just something you feel. I know this does not really help you, but I am not really able to put words to the reason for the results.
As far as your future interviews, I would only suggest you continue to be yourself, to know all of your chemistry (which you did), and ask all the questions you feel you need to ask (as you did). There will be a job that is yours out there. It just might take a few interviews for you to find it, or for IT to find you! (It took me 9 interviews to find this one!) Keep a positive outlook on the process. I know you will find something, and I know you will do well wherever you go.
One thing you might suggest to your references is that they seriously take any messages from your interviewers and respond within a reasonable amount of time. I still have not heard anything from Dr.Moore (#this is my advisor.:( I don't think he t put student's things into his heart---xiaozhu), and I only heard from Dr. Youngs yesterday. I understand that he was traveling, and I appreciate that at least he responded when he could. Dr Zhang was very prompt and I really enjoyed speaking with him. Now, the fact that the response rate was slow had NOTHING to do with my decision. However, someone else may use that to strongly influence their decision making. I hope this is clear without sounding bad against Drs. Koser or Espe. That most certainly is not my intent.
I wish you well in your career. As I said, I am sure you will do well wherever you find your job. If I can be of any further help, feel free to contact me. Also, I want to wish you a Happy Holiday as well.
Regards,
其实,看明白了,还是我不够好。:(大家看,我是不是要考虑换references?但是老板不能不用的,虽然他并不关心我们的实验和工作。:(更多精彩文章及讨论,请光临枫下论坛 rolia.net
