Parkinson Society Canada (PSC) has an immediate and ongoing need
for a
Resource Development Assistant. This volunteer position is
ideal for
students, fundraisers, or anyone who would like to provide help
and hope to
people living with Parkinson's.
(1) Position summary
v To facilitate donor relations through telephone thanking
of donors
and to assist Resource Development staff at the PSC National
Office on a
periodic basis
(2) Timeframes
v Ongoing; requirement for 1 person who can contribute 4
hours/week,
preferably in the afternoon/evening at PSC National Office;
v Increased activity will occur in August/September,
November/December,
and March/April
(3) Qualifications
v Excellent communication (oral) and interpersonal skills
required;
v Ability to treat information with utter confidentiality is
required;
v Good computer skills are required: experience with MS
Office
applications (viz. MS Word, MS Excel); online search utilities,
and other
computerised search engines;
v Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail is
desired;
v Good research skills are desired;
v Some affiliation with or knowledge of Parkinson's disease
or PSC is
desired
(4) Accountability
v Reports to Manager, Individual Giving, in consultation
with Resource
Development staff
(5) Responsibilities
(a) Donor relations (60%)
v Telephones donors from lists provided and thanks them
promptly;
v Identifies, investigates, and clarifies contact
information through
use of hard-copy and online search utilities;
v Responds to inquiries upon direction of Manager,
Individual Giving
(b) Donor research (20%)
v Obtains information from printed and computerised (e.g.,
online)
sources regarding individuals and corporations: giving history,
relevant
contacts, corporate executives;
v Identifies and contacts individuals and corporations to
verify and
update relevant information;
v Adds and edits necessary contact information on lists or
as
appropriate;
v Print outputs information regarding individuals and
corporations and
files information appropriately;
(c) Administration (20%)
v Devises, maintains, and updates centralised filing system;
v Provides necessary administrative support to Manager,
Individual
Giving and other Resource Development staff;
v Other duties as assigned
(6) Orientation
v An introductory set of background materials and an
orientation will
be provided;
v Volunteers will have access to support from Manager,
Individual
Giving;
v Transit tokens will be provided
