Bose has the worst reputation among hi-fi fans. It is overpriced and does not perform very well. If you read some of the articles in the hi-fi forums you will see why people don't like it.
For the price you paid for a set of Bose you can do a lot better with Paradigm or some other name brand.

Yamaha makes very good and very bad receivers. the ones you see in futureshop are low-end entry-level models. the best receiver from Yamaha used to be RX-V1 and RX-Z1. With a price tag of $5000 (Canadian) they are way over what most people can afford. And, if anyone indeed can afford that price he/she will most likely go with separate, eg, pre-amplifier and power amplifier combo.
I am glad there are some hi-fi fans out there.

Here, bose seems more welcome and JBL is not popular(it's welcome in Asia). I want to buy Bose601 package(two 601 floor speaker, one central and two rear, no subwoofer(t 601 has built-in). Price is around $1,500. Is it worth?

Paradigm has a very good reputation in the mid to hi-end world. Their top model is Studio-reference 100. it has a price tag of $2400(Canadian) a pair but you can always get some discount off that. there are not many people sell Paradigm reference series in GTA, though. There is one dealer in Burlington and another one in Caldon. Hi-fi 2000 sells Paradigm monitor series (which is one step down from the reference series).
