说所有来信上都只有我爸的信息，没有我妈妈的，和OHIPoffice人解释只有主申请人的名字会在信上，不接受，让我去OHIP总部去上诉，气死我啦。看看你父母的信上是不是也只有一个人的名字，如果是，千万别去Warden/Lawrence那家，据说远点的办公室好多话很多。 ”

Like what I described earlier last month, I took my parents to OHIP Lawrence/Warden office to get their OHIP coverage, but only my father got his, and mom's application was turned down.

So I wrote a letter to OHIP Eligibility Review Committee in Kingston, attached all supporting documents, and requested for a review. I also criticized the bad service we had experienced at the local office, and defined the front line worker as "arrogant and ignorant and not listening to the clients".

Guess what? Yesterday I got a phone call from a Policy Support Representative from Kingston, she apologized to me for the wrong conduct of the local office, and encouraged me to take my mom one more time to the local office to get her OHIP card. She said in case anyone would give us hard time, just give them her directly line and she would deal with them seriously. She provided me with her full name, her title and her direct number.

I am so happy that I stood up for ourselves this time. See, we all need to fight for our rights. Being slient and obeyient sometimes make us look so weak and stupid. Having said all that, of course you have to know what you are doing, and do your homework before voicing it up.

    Does any one get the OHIP while waiting for the immigration decision made by the CIC?
    I just like to see an example of it.
    I understand the law correctly that you will be eligible for the OHIP if (1) you are a sponsored immigration (2) the sponsorship is approved (3) you are in Ontario of Canada.

    The law(R.R.O. 1990, REGULATION 552) says: 5. Being a person who has submitted an application for permanent residence in Canada to the proper federal government authority, even if the application has not yet been approved, as long as Citizenship and Immigration Canada has confirmed that the person meets the eligibility requirements to apply for permanent residency in Canada, and the application has not yet been denied.

    The key words:” eligibility requirements to apply for…”

    I'd like to see if someone does it. If someone has the same case and got refused by OHIP, I will provide legal assist for free.

      Scope: This is intend to help those who sponsor their parents to immigrate from P.R. China to Canada as permanent residents, and the sponsored immigration application was submitted to the CIC office in Beijing.

            今天最后回一次你的贴，而且再提醒：LANDING到安省的新移民头三个月都没有OHIP的，何况TEMP RESIDENTS？为什么没有人说＂人权＂／＂平等＂？

            这是安省政府和联邦政府之间达成的协议：联邦政府每年按照LANDING到各省的新移民人数给各省拨款，也就是从＄４９０那里分的。VISITORS的签证申请费全部收在联邦一级，各省没的分。没有＄，安省心有余而力不足当然不能轻易COVER他们。这也是两级政府多年的争议之一。

        本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛Expectation: Our cases will be solved at the Health Services Appeal and Review Board, and expect the refusals from OHIP (the OHIP office, 50% chance at OHIP review committee), because: (1) “Regulation 552” was in effect only in April, 2009 (which allows some immigration applicants to apply for the OHIP.). (2) OHIP low level officers (who work in the OHIP offices) can only do what they are told. (3) OHIP high level officers can ONLY read the law literally, they can NOT figure out the logical in the law. So, they think “confirmation” in the regulation as a letter from CIC. OHIP officers don’t know laws. (3) Officers at the Health Services Appeal and Review Board are either from law school or get similar training, so, our cases will be solved here. (I read MANY cases.)

        What To Do: (1) Go to OHIP office once. (2) Fax to OHIP Eligibility Review Committee once. (3) Fax to Health Services Appeal and Review Board once. (4) Answer the questions from Health Services Appeal and Review Board by writing once or twice.更多精彩文章及讨论，请光临枫下论坛 rolia.net
