Report on Parent Immigration / Sponsorship Timeline Application July, 2007 / Sponsorship Approval August,2010 Case transferred to Buffalo Office / Landing Dec 2010. Details Inside.

The different dates are as follows,

Jul 12, 2007 Confirmed Receipt of the Sponsorship Application.

May 16, 2010 Fax to CIC to request case be transferred to the Buffalo Office.
Aug 26, 2010 Approval of the sponsorship letter, indicating that the case being forwarded to Buffalo Office as requested.We sent out the application package the next day.
Sept 7, 2010 Letter from Buffalo, notifying the File No. with attached medical exam form.
Oct 4, 2010 Buffalo instruction letter to proceed with the medical exam. We took our parents to the exam the following week.
Nov 2, 2010 Mississauga Case Centre letter instructions to pay the RPRF (Right of Permanent Resident Fee). Paid online and sent the payment information the following day.
Nov 15, 2010 Buffalo Office Email instuction to send the passport over with prepaid envelope. Sent the documents the next day.
Dec 6, 2010 Received Visa.
Dec 11, 2010 landing at Rainbow Bridge in Niagara Falls.

        • I have one question on your parents' landing. They are in Canada, how they land in 彩虹桥? do they need to go to the US first, then come back? which means you need to apply the US visa for your partents first. Is it right? -dishui(穿石); 2011-1-18 (#6463770@0)
          • Yes, they have to go to US custom. However, they don't have to have US visa. They don't really enter US. -shixuan2000(奔4了); 2011-1-19 {198} (#6464396@0)
            US custom will reject their entry and print a document for them. They bring this document back to Canada custom. It's an offical procedure and won't affect them applying the US visa in the future.

            "你还提交加拿大的无犯罪公证了吗？" No, I think it's not required.

        1. Police Certificate: 临来加拿大前办的也没关系, 只要在离开中国之前6个月内办的就有效. 或者在你的父母来加拿大后，让你的家人为他们做; 确认他们离开中国之前没有犯罪记录. This has to be notarized and the original copy of 派出所盖章的证明 has to submit to CIC as well.
        2. 加拿大的无犯罪公证: According to the guide, you don't have to do this until the CIC ask you to do.
        3. 户口公证: Buffalo don't need 户口公证, just want a copy. But they need 出生公证, which is indicate your parents' name, birth date, father and mother's name.

      do you guys mind PMing me a copy of your fax letter to CIC? Also, did CIC ever acknowledge the receipt of your fax at all? Also, how did you guys do the application for stay extension, online or by paper copy?

        About the Visitor Visa extension, you just do it as usual with any reason such as travel, celebrate Chinese New Year with your family, etc. You may use waiting for the sponsorship approvement as the last reason if your sponsorship approvement is really coming soon.
