The Old Age Security pension is a monthly benefit available, if applied for, to most Canadians 65 years of age or over. Old Age Security legal status and residence requirements must also be met. An applicant's employment history is not a factor in determining eligibility, nor does the applicant need to be retired. Old Age Security pensioners pay federal and provincial income tax. Higher income pensioners also repay part or all of their benefit through the tax system.

Eligibility conditions: To qualify for an Old Age Security pension, a person must be 65 years of age or over, and

1.must be a Canadian citizen or a legal resident of Canada on the day preceding the application's approval; or

2.if no longer living in Canada, must have been a Canadian citizen or a legal resident of Canada on the day preceding the day he or she stopped living in Canada.

A minimum of 10 years of residence in Canada after reaching age 18 is required to receive a pension in Canada.

    父母三年前来加拿大探亲，一直待在这里直到去年底，因为家里急事返回了国内。期间他们的家庭类团聚移民的申请一直再等待中，直到本月初从水牛城来了通知要求体检，算是看到曙光了，预计今年下半年能拿到移民签证。现在听朋友说，如果移民前一直以探亲身份待在这里，移民后扣除半年探亲签证的时间，剩下的时间都会计入以后养老金计算的10年年限中去。象我父母这种情况的话，如果在离境半年内再会来加拿大的话，再将来移民后，也能吧以前在这里的两年多时间计入养老金计算年份中去。
    几百块加币每人的养老金在我们看来不多，但对于辛苦了一辈子的爸妈来讲，也是比不小的财富。所以老人就一直惦记着马上回来。
    啰啰唆唆了这么多，想问问坛子里的同学，上面的说法有根据吗？如果我们等到年底他们的移民签证下来再过来，而不是现在就拿探亲签证来，对于以后他们的的养老金申请，有差别吗？

        我也劝过老丈人几次，和你说的一样，不要为了１０年后看不到，摸不着的东西，打乱自己现在的正常生活节奏和方式。老人嘴上没说，可我知道心里还是惦记着。
        作为女婿，又不能多说什么，怕老人觉得我们嫌弃他们不让他们来。算了算了，他们想来就来吧，想回去就回去吧， 也不差这点 机票和饭钱。怕就怕他们为了 以后 这点 养老金，在这里死撑。不管怎么说，对于老人，过内的退休生活还是比这里丰富或多的。

              To be eligible for the OAS pension, you must have legal status in Canada as well as meeting the residence requirement. You are considered to have legal status if you are a Canadian Citizen, a permanent resident (formerly known as Landed Immigrant) or you hold a Temporary Resident's permit (formerly known as Minister's Permit) on the day before your application is approved or the day you left Canada, if you left within the last 6 months.

      在移民登录前合法居住在加拿大的期间，是否记入OLD AGE SECURITY养老金计算程序，主要是以是否有perminent residency intent in Canada, 如果申请人能够像SERVICE CANADA OFFICER证明在移民前居住的那段时期，已经主动或有明显意图放弃其他国家的居住权，而选择加拿大作为永久居住地，那么所居住的那段时间，即使尚未获得移民身份，也将会被记入养老金的计算年限。入股偶是以求学，工作为主要目的，那就明显不符合上述要求了。
      一我岳父岳母的案子说，因为在他们以探亲身份来加拿大前，已经提交了开始移民申请程序（移民担保申请），CIC给我们的3年前回复可以作为有效证据被接受。当然，将来具体的裁定还是一当时的officer的裁决为准。
      期间短期的离境，只要证明不是重新选择永久居住地，就不会影响该裁定。 当然，离境时间越久，对当事人就越不利。至于6个月的说法，没有明确答复。
      上面所写的，希望对于有同样疑惑的同学有帮助。 同样，如果有其他渠道的官方回复或案例， 也谢谢一起分享。
