本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛Some of my friends know that I am going out of job, and some are expecting I'm out of job...:-:-):
Today is the last day of one of my co-workers. He was also my Alumni, though I did not know him as I was in college. The second time he was laid off last year, I helped him and grabbed him into my company. He has worked for our company for 9 months. He had a very good reputation among us.
His leaving is not because of lay-off. Actually, he hoped he was laid off so that he cound get some severance pay. He has only 3.5 year's professional programming experience. Before that, he was a biologist and played with some bacteria. Since he became a programmer, he has never stopped learning.
Right after our company laid off 8 people, he began to hunt for jobs. He got 2 job interviews within 2 weeks and got job offers from both interviews. Moreover, he has kept his salary standard level.
I studied job market for some time. I observed that there are a few opportunities there. Now employeers are very picky. Programmers need to establish a more complete mindset. I know many folks in this forum are very good at technical details. Honestly speaking, that's not enough. I understand we need to make efforts in some other directions
1) Improve our English, especially IT English
2) Learn more about the project life-cycle
3) Study interview skills
