Q1: Yes,use a devis box, install a 4 inches x 4 inches box with cover, joint the wire and cap it with "wire nut" , the wire must also have box connecter too
Q2: Whatever you see in the old installation, shoul copy it.
Suggest you buy a ONTARIO SIMPLIED ELECTRIC CODE, If you are a DIY home owner.

最近想在地下室拉几根电线，遇到两个问题：
1。如果原有的电线不够长，需要延长，直接用wire cap连起来行不行？是不是还需要用个device box把接头处罩一下？
2。地下室靠外墙的一侧想装个插座，可挖开drywall发现drywall与木头stud之间还有一层类似油毡的防潮材料，那我装插座的时候是不是也要做一下防潮措施？怎样做？
