We, the undersigned citizens and residents of Canada, draw the attention of the House to the following:
THAT Section 3 (1.d) of Immigration and Refugee protection Act states, “The objectives of this Act with respect to immigration are… to see that families are reunited in Canada”;
THAT the processing time for parental sponsorship applications in Canada has increased from 5-6 months in 2003 to 33 months in 2009;
THAT the processing time for parents immigration applications increased to 29 months in Nov, 2009 (Beijing visa office), BUT
"Beijing visa office will be working to finalize immigration applications for parents and grandparents submitted prior to July 2007. While it is difficult to project processing times for cases received in July 2007 or later, it is unlikely that these will be finalized in 2009. "
--------This is the posting on Beijing visa office website, which means the applications they have received after July 2007 will NOT be processed in the nearly future, when these applications will be processed? We need a reasonable answer.
THAT sponsors of parents are, by definition, people who have proven financial ability, desire and commitment to support their elderly and they are obligated to and must provide financial support for a period of ten years;
THAT parents provide much needed social benefits of child and home care to their working children and help in preservation and passing of traditional and cultural values from one generation to another;
AND THAT family separation is creating emotional and psychological stress for the families;
THEREFORE, pursuant to the Immigration and Refugee Act and in the spirit of Canada's commitment to humanitarian assistance and compassion also signed by Canada in Helsinki accord, your petitioners call upon Parliament to ensure that the Citizenship and Immigration Canada clears up the application backlog, reduces processing times and establishes reasonable timeframes for processing parental sponsorship applications.更多精彩文章及讨论，请光临枫下论坛 rolia.net
