Rarely come to here and simply want to ask how I should reply this thread. The discussion thread was posted by an Indian on a Finance Professional Forum on LinkedIn.//It says: Unlike China, India has growth with values: Dr. Manmohan Singh

本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛Bull in a China shop is not an expression one would normally use to describe India’s mild-mannered Prime Minister, but at a Washington think-tank on Monday evening Dr. Manmohan Singh was anything but delicate on India’s newly nettlesome neighbour before an audience that is largely in thrall of the Middle Kingdom’s meteoric rise on the global stage.

He was also unexpectedly tetchy about comparisons between Indian and Chinese economic growth, saying while there is no doubt that Chinese performance is superior to India's, ''there are other values which are important than the growth of Gross Domestic Product.''

''I think the respect for fundamental human rights, the respect for the rule of law, respect for multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, multi-religious rights, I think those have values. So, even the Indian perforce with regard to the GDP might not be as good as the Chinese, certainly I would not like to choose the Chinese path," he said in unusually blunt remarks that constituted a criticism of the Chinese model.更多精彩文章及讨论,请光临枫下论坛 rolia.net

    • So what do you intent to say? Let me share a comment from a CMO with you. He said in China, people only cares about $$$ but in India, they have too much constrants from their religions, from their enthnic, cultures....
As a very successful business man, do you think where he prefers to do his business?

But if you are posting your discussion, do you mind to ask him a few questions on my behalf? Is honour killing still a tradition in certain part of India? As a man, I also appreciate they keep the good old tradition that wife must obey husband. These are a very good example of fundamental human rights.

But I have to also agree with him that China has a huge works to do about human right and rule of law.
    • Personally, I don't like the way he commented on China as a whole. Some GCD(Communist Party) don't respect this and that but it doesn't mean it applies to all GCD and all Chinese.
      • I also have linkedin account. Where can find his original article? Search his name? I guess I am from HK, so I kind of agree that China has a lot of areas that need big improvement, such as human right and law.
But on the other hand, I would say India is not that far better than China in human right.
        • We are in the same "Accounting Professional" subgroup under "Finance Club". His name is Suprio Ghatak, an Assistant Professor - Finance at NMIMS University (India).
        • I do agree China government needs continuous improvement such as law and human rights, more importantly, open information and education system. However, I'm glad I've seen improvements all these years and will never lose faith on it.
          • We all understand countries like China and India cannot have any drastic changes, but I am very sorry to see how Chinese government treated those 維權人士like譚作人. It is far from improvement, it is going backward.
            • Thank you for posting this. A shame that I just started to know 譚作人, and just watched 艾未未的“老妈蹄花”on Youtube through your post. I understand you feel disappointed as I'm also disappointed about this.
However, it's now information age, more and more conscientious Chinese are getting informed and educated, so I believe all positive changes will push China further to get better.
At least, I can watch Youtube and information is there and for sure I will spread the message to my circle of influence. Thanks for caring.
    • 辛格批華褒印 中國儼如隱形主角 - Oversea Chinese (we) must be setting a very good example that Chinese is better than Indian.
