Bronfman Plays Brahms
Thur. April 16, 2009 at 8pm
Russian pianist Yefim Bronfman, always one of the TSO's most welcome guests, communicates the probing depth and winsome charms of Concerto No. 2 by Brahms. Peter Oundjian has paired it with Danish composer Carl Nielsen's greatest Symphony. In the first movement, Nielsen wages a potent struggle against the dark forces of life, then celebrates mankind's victory in the glorious finale. Norwegian master Edvard Grieg's melodious music for the play Peer Gynt completes the programme.
