Government and OPSEU reach a deal
QUEEN'S PARK, ON, May 2 /CNW/ - The Ontario Government reached a
tentative contract agreement with the Ontario Public Service Employees Union
(OPSEU) today, ending the almost eight week long strike.
"It's been a long strike for our employees, our managers and the public,"
said David H. Tsubouchi, Chair of Management Board of Cabinet. "But, at the
end of the day, we have a tentative agreement that is both fair to our
employees and fiscally responsible to the taxpayers of Ontario."
More than 30,000 OPSEU employees walked off the job March 13, with
another 15,000 designated essential service workers required to report to
work. Non-striking employees and managers worked long hours over the course of
the strike to provide critical services to the public.
"When ratification is complete, we'll be able to focus our energies on
delivering the business of government," said Tsubouchi.
The deal has to be ratified by both the union members and Provincial
Cabinet before it is implemented. To provide the union with an opportunity to
inform its members about the provisions, details of the contract will be
released upon ratification.更多精彩文章及讨论,请光临枫下论坛 rolia.net
