BTW, you can run your own email system on your PC if your PC can run around 24X7 hours.Do not matter whether you get static IP address.Especially for those cable modem or adsl users.
(1).registering a free dynamic IP-->second domain service, e.g: www.getmyip.com. With the client software, The Internet will renew your domain name record when your IP is changed by itself(normally after re-power PC or "renew" your IP).So you will get a domain name. like "xxx.getmyip.com", which will point to your PC dynamically.(Remebring writting a "A" record is enough insteading of "MX" record)
(2). Getting a free email server software and installinf on your PC. For windows 98/2k/xp, e.g:
www.argosoft.com. For linux platform, e.g: sendmail will be available. configing these software.remebering refilling DNS servers. The DNS server's IP from your ISP. Or as following:
Some DNS servers on Internet:
202.96.128.68(Guangzhou, china)
202.96.134.133(ShenZhen, china)
137.65.1.1(US, Novell company)
4.2.2.1(US, Located in BGP AS 1)
13.1.64.94(US, Xerox company)
(3). Configing your own email servers on your PC, then, of course, adding some users. So your email addresses are "yyy@xxx.getmyip.com". On your email clients, the smtp/pop3 server is "xxx.getmyip.com" or "localhost" or "127.0.0.1"
