I am always reminded, when I come home from my travels around the world, that we can be proud of what we have accomplished in Canada.

We understand more than ever what brings us together: common ideals about democracy and human rights; the desire to live in a plural society where diversity is valued and celebrated; and the knowledge that neither race, gender, age nor wealth can be used to deny anyone the chance to take part in the life of our country.

But I also know that we can do better. Let\
