My company is a MNC, which has operation in both US and Canada. The hiring manager was in Toronto office and he knew TN Visa. Actually when I took interview with him, the first question he asked me was whether I was Canadian citizen or not. If not, he did not want to waste time since H1B was impossible to get in short period. I got the job and applied the TN visa right away.
Before I got this offer, I took an interview with Kforce, which is a big recruiting firm in US as well. The staffing manager seems no idea about the TN visa and I had to spent long time explaining to her how easy to get working visa for Canadian citizen with CGA designation. But finally I still did not get any help from her.
So I think it depends on the hiring manager's experience and knowledge.
Since we are not in IT industry, we have to be patient and keep trying.
Good luck.
