Otherwise it is always going to be a hassle to go through customs.....to tell you a true story, one of the friend's friend's uncle in law got rejected at Niagara Falls border to go to new york on Labour's Day long weekend last year, maybe because it was so close to 9/11, maybe the visa officer had not a good day or just wanted to show his power....no specific reason, the end result was that visa office didn't grant him of the US entry.....After almost crying begging as two family involved.....two familes have to return back, and the interesting part is that this Chinese guy ( Canadian citizen already )went to US on several occasions both on business and pleasure before this, Even though he went through the hassel every time but ..never got rejected before, but Last September with one particular visa office, he could NOT pass......I don't want that happen to me......

I don't think it is nothing to do with my passport....when I was a permanant residence, I held a Chinese passport which has NO record of failed visa in China , but they can trace my name and birth date, the info I can't change....So I think the right way is to go to Embassy or US consulate and explain to them, I don't know whether I should come up with a letter, but then the letter would be lenthy one and I don't know to whose attention and people can ignore your letter, but if I showed in person, I don't know how they are going to handle?

after I got the failed visa on my chinese passport in China 10 years ago, In order to get record straight, I changed to a brand new Chinese passport to apply for landed immigrant in Canada...and when I got the permanent residence in Canada, when I went to consulate to apply for the visitor visa to US, even on my Chinese passport with a clean record, they can see the bad record back from China from old passport.....Now I am Canadian citizen, so whenever they swiped my Canadian passport through the computer, then I guess my file shows up.....People can always change passport, if they only trace people from passport, then security system is a joke......they search for your name and birth date and other things which i don't know, but definitely not passport you are holding....

你错就错在只换了一本护照,每本护照上都有会有上个护照号码,但却无上上个护照号码,所以你如果要换,就该登陆后再换本护照后去签证.

The Chinese passport I was holding when I came to Canda has nothing to do with the bad record....but still consulate can find out by tracing back to China as they can search from my name and date of birth.....It does NOT matter how many passports you change. Once your name and your date of birth matched the blacklist in their global system.....then you are doomed......Otherwise, according to what you said, everybody keeps on changing on passports even the terrioist, then eventually it would be ok after changing couple of times? Of course not........

Thank you anyway, I guess I am going to send out a letter explaining to consulate what happened back then in China and why I got rejected in Canada and asked them to remove the black spot.....if that can't work, I am going to consulate to convince them, it is not good not to tell the truth, but in this country, you are entitled to have second or third chance, everything can be fixed especially after ten years.....
