homemade baby food系列之 apple sauce

Ripe McIntosh apples in season produce a soft pink and sweet puree. Once your baby is 12 months or older, modify this classic recipe by adding cinnamon for extra taste.

Ingredients

- 8 to 10 apples and water

Preparation

· Scrub and wash the apples well. Do not peel unless your blender is not powerful enough to pulverize all the peel. Remove cores, cut into squares, and slice.
· Place apples in a saucepan with 125 ml (1/2 cup) of water. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer for about 20 minutes or until tender.
· Or, in the microwave, put apples into a covered glass dish with 125 ml (1/2 cup) of water. Cook at high power for 12-15 minutes or until tender.
· Allow to stand 5 minutes to cool.
· Place 500 ml (2 cups) of cooked apples into the blender and puree until the peel has completely disappeared. If the blender is not powerful enough to pulverize all the peel, pass the puree through a sieve or peel the apples before cooking. Repeat the same operation with the remaining apples.
Yield: 2 ice-cube trays full
