if you just get into the US, normally you should wait 2 weeks, then go to apply the SSN

because when you get in, only the border know you are in, other department within US have no idea of u. your information normally take 2-3 week get to the other department. then they can check your information online and issue SSN to you and mail to you after 2-3 weeks. so total almost 4-5 week after you first get in.

But if you applied SSN right way after you first get in, because they have not get your information. so normally they will sent a request to the department who controll the border to check your information is correct. back and forth maybe even take long time for you to get the SSN.

i wait 2 week to apply the ssn then after 3 weeks maybe i got that in mail
