I found this on Passport Canada Website: "Are 2 x 2 pictures accepted if I live in the USA ? Yes. Canadians residing in the USA may submit American-size photos providing all other requirements are met. "

Does my passport picture need to be taken by a professional photographer?
Yes.

Can I wear my glasses to have my picture taken?
Glasses, including tinted prescription glasses, may be worn as long as the eyes are clearly visible. Sunglasses are unacceptable.

What are the photo requirements for a baby?
A full front view of your child's head and shoulders is required. Please note that the parent's hands or arms may not be seen in the picture. Passport Canada is, however, lenient about the expression of a newborn (mouth open or smile).

Are 2 x 2 pictures accepted if I live in the USA ?
Yes. Canadians residing in the USA may submit American-size photos providing all other requirements are met.

What if I live in the USA and photographers do not have the required stamp?
The information may be handwritten.

    I sent my photo twice to apply for new passport, stupid canadian governent said the photo is not good enogh, where should I take the picture in US? canadian is really stupid, I am one of them. :((

      The requirements of phtograph for US passport are quite different from Canadian. The canadian is more strict. You can tell this by looking at how tedius and radiculous it is for a Canadian
      who does not know a doctor or a dentist more than 3 years and wanting to apply for a Canadian passport, even worse, when you renew your canadian passport, you
      have to go through the same procedure again. It's pain in the ass. Comparing with US passport application, it is much simple and efficient.
      Back to the subject, many US cities does not know how to take canuck style passport photo. I bet even you tell them to follow the specific requirements, they might
      not be able to do it because first they've never done this, second,they might even do not have those facilities such as stamp, printing machines etc.

        that is correct, I showed that piece of paper to photographer and got pic, canadian government still said that is not good enough. So I asked them where I can get the correct photo , they said they do not know. My US co-workers are all lanughing when they heard my story. I kind understand, why canada always fall behind. SD government , plus SD people.haha, I am one of them anyway.

      Bring the photograph requirement from the Canadian Passport Application Kit to any place taking passport pictures. They should be able to help you. Mine came out great. They know the difference if you give them instruction.
