I've been to both Toronto and Seattle. You're right, Toronto's living standard is quite high. The most ridiculous one is the transportation fee, such as car insurance and TTC/YRT/GO price. Car rental price is higher too.
However, the housing and food are cheaper in Toronto. And there're abundant kinds of chinese food. If you ever shopped in Seattle's supermakets, you will feel that you're shopping in Loblaws, or even more expensive.
And the kid-related programs/services are much much cheaper in Toronto.
