I did find the same thing when I was hunting for job.

Big company does not mean higher income and ever stabler job. On the contrary, some big names even give below market price offer because they might think their names worth some compensation.

One more thing is: big company even does not mean easier job. As I know, Microsoft, Amazon, Adobe, Google, Intel, all pushed employees very hard and they often work overtime (almost every day).

The beauties of the big names are:
1) Famous name will make your resume look better
2) Easier for you to find job in another big company if you have to find a new job
3) More room to get promotion if you're labelled as a "manager-candidate".
