本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛I heard some cases that someone got citizenship by only staying in Canada for very short period of time during 3 year period. I believe there are much more of these kind of sucessful cases. But, I also believe that most likely there are same number of cases that someone were got by this. It is unrealistic for the government to check everyone. The most cost efficient way is to draw a random sample for the applications to check. One example for this type of random check is that we all notice that some one got citizenship fairly quickly and smoothly, but some other ones, who look no difference from the first group, were asked for finger print or something.
So, the main question here is if you are willing to take the risk. If you are a risk taker, go for it and good luck. Just remember that other's successful story does not a guarantee that you would sucess. The probability of being caught may be low, but the stake on the line is very high. If you are risk averse, then do it in a proper way. And have good sleep every night and don't envy those who tried.
BTW, Here is one way I could think to find out if you are in Canada or not if government REALLY wants to - this is NOT what government may do, which I have no idea of:
From you application, I can get your personal information. Then I can access your Canadian tax return to get more information, e.g. your address in the last 3 years, your income, etc. Simple check to the addresses can find out if you really stay there during the last 3 years. (of course, your friend can cover that for you at their own risk). I can also access your bank records. If your income is too low (or 0 if you don't have work in Canada), you don't have big saving in banks and you have unrealistically low bank transactions, I would become more suspecious - how did you cover your daily living? Well, of course you could use all cash for that and had never put those cash in bank - but, even yourself would think this is a bit far reaching. A simple visit to your current Canada address will reveal where you actually are right now - say, in the US. From A quick check with immigration authorities there, I would know where you actually were during the last 3 years.
All these steps are based on one BIG assumption which is the government really wants to find out if you are in Canada or not. The reason I write it, though, is to show that it may not be that difficult for them to find out if they really want.更多精彩文章及讨论,请光临枫下论坛 rolia.net
