I agree “一镜走天涯”is a good solution for travelling. All points you mentioned are absolutely agreed. But some drawbacks
1. image quality. a 10X zoom lens is unable to keep in high quality for all range.
2. aperture.
3. normally no macro.
4.10X zoom increases the complication of the structure, and meanwhile increases the possibility of defects.
5. in case it out of work, you have nothing but body.

I don't use Nikon. No comments for D70s.

就象前面几位说的，如果你不是特别追求性能，或者说画面质量，或者说照片的工艺美感，那就一镜走天涯吧。相信对大部分人来说，旅游本身比摄影更吸引人 ：－）

就D70s来说，我觉得这个镜头是最适合你的一镜走天涯要求，虽然画质可能会差一点。
