DESCRIPTION
Reporting Production Engineering Supervisor, the Production Engineer will be jointly responsible for delivery of production engineering activities within a specific Asset Team in Western Canada. This includes preparing, completion programs and workover programs as well as cost estimates for these programs. It also includes optimization of existing wells and gathering systems.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Within the Matrix organization employed by the North American Gas Business Unit, the Production Engineer will take Technical Leadership from the Production Engineering Supervisor and Business Leadership from the Team Leader of the Asset Team. The Production Engineer will be working in a multi-functional team environment and will be jointly accountable for delivery of production engineering activities to the Asset Team.
CAPABILITY REQUIREMENTS
Specific Functional/Technical Skills
An Engineering degree (Chemical, Mechanical or Petroleum) from an accredited institution plus 3 – 5 years Production Engineering work experience.
Well developed knowledge of well stimulation techniques including acid squeezes and hydraulic fracturing.
Good knowledge of preparing completion and workover programs.
Experience with multi zone completions and commingled production.
Experience with gas production containing H2S & CO2
Strong understanding of completion techniques, both existing and new technologies.
Experience with liquid loading remediation and gas gathering system optimization.
General Skills / Knowledge / Attributes
Ability and willingness to work in multi-functional team environment.
Ability to "network" internally at Petro-Canada and within the Industry to draw and share technical knowledge
Strong written and oral communications skills.
Ability to execute on new ideas and follow through with documented learnings.
Willingness to take calculated risks and try new creative ideas to work within defined economic boundaries.
Ability to show leadership and enthusiasm within Asset Team in Production Engineering activities.
