DESCRIPTION
Based in Calgary, reporting to the Reservoir Engineering Supervisor, the Senior Reservoir Engineer will work with the development and operations team, including other engineers and geoscientists to provide reservoir technical and economic analyses to support the ongoing operations and investments within the team. In addition to a central technical role, the Senior Reservoir Engineer will provide leadership for various activities within the team and provide mentoring for junior staff.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
The Senior Reservoir Engineer, with support from the Reservoir Engineering Supervisor and technical specialists, would collaborate with other team members to provide:
• Evaluation and optimization of existing pool performance (property development strategy)
• Oil and gas reserve evaluation using analytic and numerical simulation tools;
• Technical reservoir and economic analyses of incremental investments in existing assets;
• Evaluation of growth opportunites – exploration plays, farm-ins, acquisitions, landsales, etc
• Well test analyses;
• Reserves determination and booking practices
• Economic and risk analyses;
• Reservoir characterization and simulation (in selected situations);
• Nodal analysis
• Mentoring and guidance to junior staff.
CAPABILITY REQUIREMENTS
Specific Functional/Technical Skills
• Eight or more years experience in an upstream engineering discipline (reservoir, production, drilling, facilities engineering), with at least 3 years in reservoir engineering;
• Sound reservoir engineering skills (core and fluid analysis interpretation, well test analysis, reservoir analytical tools and techniques);
• Thorough business knowledge of economics and risk analyses;
• Familiarity with reservoir characterization and simulation, and with nodal analysis (Forgas) is an asset;
General Skills / Knowledge / Attributes
• Well-developed teamwork skills (collaboration, communication, participation);
• Strong, non-authoritarian leadership skills;
• Ability to learn new technology and skills at a rapid pace;
• Well developed critical thinking (ability to apply logic and challenge assumptions, conclusions and make appropriate interventions);
• Sound understanding of project management (time management, focus, discipline);
• Ability to show leadership and enthusiasm within the Asset Team;
• Willingness to travel to field sites associated with this activity.
