My team is hiring. I am working in the data warehouse group, Amicus Bank of CIBC. Amicus Bank provides finanical services for President's Choice Financial. I am working now with consultants from hyperion and cognos for MIS proof of concept, and will decide which solution to go soon.
The person for this position is expected to have experience with mddb, data architecture, data warehouing, oracle, etc. We will send this person for training once we decide which MIS solution to use. This is the level 7 position. My manager is quite friendly and easy to deal with, and very reasonable with workload. There will a learning curve as our system is fairly large and complex. This person is also expected to provide support for MIS end users.

The principal duty of this position are to design/develop/implement AMICUS MIS Data base and application as well as understand and maintain PCF Data Warehouse Physical data models following corporate data modeling standards, from which database schemas will be constructed and implemented. The developer will work in tandem with business and technology stakeholders to understand the requirements, and deliver high quality, integral, robust, and flexible data models. The developer will be responsible for comprehensively documenting the data models within formal Data Dictionaries, assuring the documentation is kept current and accurate.
· Development and documentation of the Business Information Requirements and Business Co-ordination of Data Architecture(s)· Develop and document Conceptual, Logical, and Physical data models, supported by comprehensive supporting documentation.· Transform the project logical data model into a physical database design· Ensure the physical data models are kept current · Identify and document business rules, terms and policies within the context of the Data Architecture and Logical Data Model· Analyze current business rules, terms, policies, procedures and informational requirements for inconsistencies and opportunities for streamlining and reuse · Identify conflicts between different rules and participate in the resolution.· Ensure all informational business rules are documented in the data model, including definitions, valid values, default values, etc.· Ensure information rules have been validated by the business· Assess implementation design requests made for performance/access requirements to ensure business rules and long-term database usability/integrity are not compromised.· Guide and support the documentation of business data query and reporting requirements (provided by the business users).· Design/develop/implement Relational and Dimensional Data Models· Participate in the resolution of data quality issues, data conversion issues and reviews of existing data structures and recommend improvements· Assist with developing business meta data.· Retrofit existing/historical objects to new naming standards where feasible· Maintain a constructive and cooperative working relationship with team members in the delivery of high quality, integral data models.· Co-ordinate data model changes with Data Architecture, Development, and Database Administration teams. · Generate, maintain, and publish Data Dictionaries for all corporate data models in a audience friendly format· Ensure all Metadata, including definitions and valid values, are current and accurate.· Advise project teams members upon standards, best practices, and proven techniques for optimizing the capture, storage and delivery of business data
· Minimum of Eight (8) years of experience in Information Technology (IT).· Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Multi-Dimensional Data base and application developer· Extensive experience with Data Modeling, Database Design and Data Warehousing· Extensive working experience of Entity-Relationship Data Modeling· Extensive work experience with MDDB packages (COGNOS and/or ESSBASE)· Experience with creating integrated data models to integrate data from different source systems· 2-4 years of work experience with Multi-Dimensional Data Bases, OLAP, MOLAP and ROLAP CUBES, metadata management, data warehousing, preferably in a financial institution.· Experience working with package implementations · 2-4 years of on-hands experience with RDBMS: Oracle 8, 9i and SQL-Server 2000 and stored procedures· Experience in developing data models following formal corporate standards· Extensive working experience in creating and maintaining data dictionaries and metadata· Client focused with the ability to react quickly and efficiently to issues/concerns.· Proven analytical, conceptualization and communication skills.· Successful handling of multiple activities/projects as well as conflicting demands and priorities. · Knowledge of project management practices as related to Data Modeling and Database Design· Working knowledge of Sun and Windows operating systems· Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, ability to communicate with all levels of the business to extract future as well as immediate requirements. · Analytical, inquisitive, and persistent approach to problem solving· Able to work with ambiguous business requirements producing creative solutions.· Comfortable presenting and facilitating Joint Application Development (JAD) data modeling sessions· Self-directed while able to work well in a team· Willing to work off-hours· Capacity to go the extra mile when necessary to meet tight project deadlines and work under pressure and still produce quality deliverables · Proven analytical capabilities, very detail-oriented· Experience in the banking/credit card/collections industry would be beneficial
