JOB PURPOSE
Establish, implement, and maintain methods and procedures for hardware, software and system level Configuration Management (CM) activities over the lifecycle of a project. To provide identification, configuration control, traceability, and status accounting of configuration items throughout all phases of a project.
KEY JOB FUNCTIONS
· Participate in identifying CM requirements for a project through the review of contractual documentation.
· Prepare project specific CM Plans that meet customer requirements.
· Define, document, implement, and continually review and improve CM procedures and policies,
· Create and maintain databases used to support the Configuration Management function, including the Site CM database. Integrate CM databases as needed to provide a unified CM system.
· Provides technical support to resolve system level, hardware, and software configuration management issues during the lifecycle of a project.
· Track the developmental activity of configurable items and associated technical documentation to ensure proper definition of an item.
· Interface with Hardware Enginerering, Software Engineering and Projects departments on CM issues.
· Liase with the customer on CM issues.
· Participates in and supports major reviews (PDRs, CDRs, etc.), internal audits, and audits by the customer.
· Supports proposal and budget estimations processes.
· Establish and maintain CM metrics.
· Perform physical configuration audits and software builds.
BASIC SKILL LEVEL REQUIREMENTS
Engineering degree or equivalent, and/or CM II Certification.
Eight years experience in establishing integrated system level CM systems that combine hardware and software.
Must understand hardware and software development processes.
Strong in database design and development (MS Access), and able to integrate data from multiple sources.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent problem solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
