· Install, administer, maintain, and monitor Hewlett Packard and Dell Server Hardware in the GN production network environment.
· Install, administer, maintain and monitor applications and programs including Microsoft Enterprise Server 2003, Microsoft Exchange server 2003, Microsoft ISA Internet proxy server and Microsoft/Citrix Terminal server in the GN production network environment.
· Install, administer, maintain and monitor various network applications and programs including Computer Associates Brightstor Backup software, Symantec anti virus central server, Sybari anti virus and spam software and all printing software in the GN production network environment.
· Install and test upgrades to applications, programs and databases including service packs, patches, hot fixes and releases in a UAT/Test environment.
· Handle a variety of Tier 2-3 trouble tickets.
· Provide elevated support (Tier 2) to Tier 1 technicians, Regional Technicians and a variety of end users departments specifically in support of these GN production applications and programs. This support could also include mentoring end users or Tier 1 technicians.
· Support remote communities which may include phone support or using remote administration tools provided by the GN. There may also be travel to other communities outside of Iqaluit if needed.
· Deal with third party vendors and developers of applications, programs and operating systems used by the GN.
· Create technical documentations and edit and test vendor provided documentation.
· Work on identified internal IPS related projects.
· Contribute to the post mortem analysis following any system, program or application failures that they were involved in working on. This may lead to recommendations or adjustments to procedures to prevent future incidents.
· Perform the daily Informatics Status Report (ISR). Monitor server disk space, performance and tuning. Work with Computer Associates Brightstor backup and restore schedules. Troubleshoot various network issues and install printing drivers and troubleshoot printing issues.
· Create end user accounts and domain groups for the GN network and archive user accounts who have left the employ of the GN.
· Apply security permissions to groups and folder structures as needed.
· Provide, under the supervision of the Senior Manager of Network Operations and Technical Lead Specialist, support to outside Government Agencies.
