In my early years here I found there are nice people living in poor conditions. I was so happy to go such places to feel I can help somewhat. At the same time, other volunteers are willing to talk with you and give you advice. One elder man even gave his car to me to learn driving for free for a month. Even though now I moved to another city I still miss those old days and old friends.
Some elders are living in very poor condition and refuse to ask for welfare. I met such a volunteer at a foodbank. He himself from my opinion requires much help, but he is there to help other. when I asked why, they told me it is about personal pride.
