The Sr. Security Services Engineer will be responsible for design, implementation and testing of next generation network security features including Vulnerability Assessment, Intrusion Detection and integration with third party systems to make the enterprise networks secure. The Sr. Security Services Engineer will perform extensive development in Unix (BSD) OS environment using object oriented technologies, socket based messaging and multi-threaded applications. Additionally, The Sr. Security Services Engineer will be reviewing product requirements provided by the product managers, defining new solutions, estimating tasks and documenting designs for the solutions.The candidate will be responsible for developing Network Security features on Vernier's product line. Responsibilities include:
1) Application software development in C/C++ on Linux, FreeBSD
2) Design, implementation, testing and technical documentation (Architecture Docs, Design Docs, etc) for Security features - Intrusion Prevention, Signature-based attack prevention, DoS/DDos attack prevention, Zero-day attack prevention, etc.
3) Participates as part of a core team in defining the overall system and product architecture roadmaps.
4) Works with other Product Management, QA and support teams to develop innovative solutions that meet market /customer needs with respect to functionality, performance, scalability, reliability, etc.
15) Participates in technical discussions and/or software integration of third party software components into our product.
6) Works closely with the manager and the team to achieve optimum resource utilization, sharp focus on schedules and timely delivery of products.
The candidate should be prepared to independently design, code and test major features, as well as working jointly with other team members on the team to deliver complex solutions.
· C/C++ programming on Linux/Unix a must.
· Must be familiar with IP networking concepts, DNS, DHCP and NAT.
· Must be familiar with systems programming including sockets, multi-threaded applications, etc.
· Design and implementation of attack prevention (signature, behavioral or protocol anomalies, Denial of Service) techniques.
· Design and implementation of L2-L7 Protocol Decoding for anomaly detection.
· Familiarity with other IPS/IDS products like SNORT
· Familiarity with anti-virus products, honeypots is a plus.
· Familiarity with Windows technologies, windows registry, ActiveX a definite plus
· Familiarity with HTML, Apache, XML and database methodologies a definite plus
