· Install, diagnose, and repair residential and small business voice services/equipment
· Install high speed internet access in residences and small businesses
· Isolate and repair faults in buried service wire; remove temporary wire
· Provide excellent customer service – answer customer queries/provide information regarding issue(s), status, applicable charges, etc.; promote products and services
· Administrative functions – track and submit status of job; accurately record and submit time and expense reports
· Maintain work vehicle, tools and equipment
Qualifications:
· Demonstrated hands-on technical ability- recent experience in telephony (installation and repair) will be given preference
· Legally entitled to work in Canada (Canadian citizen, landed immigrant, holder of a current valid work permit)
· Minimum Grade 12 education
· Strong communication skills – written and verbal
· Computer literate; able to learn new systems quickly
· Must possess a valid driver’s license with clean driving record – no more than 4 demerit points (recent abstract must be provided)
· Must be available to work various shifts - days, evenings/nights, weekends, holidays
· Able to use hand/power tools and testing equipment
· Able to handle physical aspects of position – bending, standing, climbing, lifting heavy objects (i.e. ladders)
· Able to work outside in varying weather conditions
· Able to climb ladders/pole and work at elevated heights
· Able to work in confined spaces
· Must possess normal colour vision (due to the use of colour-coded wires)
· Strong interpersonal skills - must be able to resolve unpleasant customer issues in a professional and diplomatic manner
· Able to work with little or no direct supervision
· Able to effectively handle stress
