My English boyfriend

本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛I had an English boyfriend when I lived in England.

Here is something about him.

(1)

At the beginning days, he sometimes mentions about his ex-girlfriend. I am stone-faced when listening…later I become a bit annoyed. So once I tell him how I feel. He asks me: ‘if we break up, do you hope me to forget you very easily?’ ‘No’. I say. ‘Then you should know that I am a person who is serious about feelings.’ That’s true. As the time goes by, the memory about his ex is buried deep in his heart and does not pop up anymore.

Communication and understanding is the key in relationship.

Once we get some tiny flowers from his dad. More exactly put it, they are more like grass, and the tiny stems, tiny gray leaves, and the white flowers are almost invisible. They look so messy. He plants them in the backyard, where I grow a lot of colorful flowers. Looking at them, they are so much not in harmony growing together.

Few days later, I pull out these pitiful flowers and throw them away. When he finds out and asks me, I tell him what happen. ‘Why you kill those flowers, they have lives. If you don’t like them in your backyard, you should plant them somewhere else instead of killing them’. ‘Don’t make a fuss, it’s not a killing’. Later, I tell my next-door neibourgh Jean, a retired nurse, surprisingly, she says exactly the same thing.

Several months after I move to Toronto, I heard a new that two Chinese visa students kidnapped a man for ransom. Finally they killed him. They are not 20 years old yet.

Life is something so valuable and fragile. It's worth cherishing, not only your life, but also other people’s lives.

    • your British boyfriend
      • English is correct
        • British is correct, English is not bad.
          • British is more general. English is more specific.
        • If he is a Scot, he might felt offended if you called him English.
They thought English are dirty. sheee..
          • When I worked an Europe project, I had a colleague who was from England He told me:" I am an English".
            • Yeah, so ... ? did you hear what i said?
                • My bad, i didn't read it at all, sorry.
                  • :D
                    • Thanks all, your guys are funny...and the discussion is informative...although what I wanted is to discuss something about relationship and life...
            • correction: " worked an Europe project" should be "worked on a project in Europe". Sorry.
      • I have worked in UK a couple of weeks. It is offending to call them British. English is much better.
      • FYI.....just spoke to my English co-worker:
English is the correct word. British is very rarely used, but not wrong. Scottish likes to differentiate himself by being called ‘Scots’. It’s maybe a little bit offensive to call him ‘English’. Have you heard English girls like to call themselves 'English Roses'.
        • "Great British" is better. :-)
    • touching
    • ya ya ya. :-)
    • Wow, your English is perfect.
        • When you write something happened in the past, you can use either past or present tense as long as it is consistent.
      • English like gardening. Just like Chinese enjoy playing Majiang. You won't be happy if someone throws away your Majiang chips, right?
          • Picking flowers is of course not a good habit. but don't take it too seriously. My wife used to mess up with my Majiang pieces. Well, she is still not my EX yet. Beaking up is not that cheap I guess :)
    • I agreed that communication and understanding are the keys in relationships. But if something he does upsets you he should stop it. Compromising is another key element in relationships.
        • Agreed. You have to have principles and stick to it.
    • U should have said this to ur ex: " if JJYY again, swear to chairman Mao, i will kick ur ass"
    • That's the spirit Nande. heartbreaker, Your Brit was seeing you knowing himself not being able to get over his exgf and he was brave enough telling you about it..
geez. what the hell were you thinking? were you his transitioning girl friend? Sister, grab some respect for yourself! My exbf was an english too. and i totally taught him how to respect a chinese girl!!
