It is difficult not to treat a person as a member of specific group but as an individual, unless he/she knows this group very well or knows this individual very well. Some managers like to hire Chineses and others don't -- kind of personal preference. They never speak out about that but you can feel it. Ask youself, if the first Chinese they hired screwed everything up, will they hire the second Chinese? If the first one is excellent, how about the next one. As a group, we need good reputation. It needs everyone's effort to make our lives easier in Canada -- include you and me.
