这跟CHINESE并没有联系。我们是CHINESE,但是我们也是HUMAN BEING,自私是所有种族的特性。我的朋友911年拿到OFFER,但是两个星期后911,公司又取消了这个合同,倒是给她写了很长的一封信去证明他们不是闹玩,她是从200中人中录取的。我去年拿到美国一个OFFER,第二天,公司又打电话跟我商量加一个CONDITION,可不可以试用一周INSTEAD FOR 3 MONTH,因为我们只有电话INTERVIEW,没有ON SITE INTERVIEW。我的POINT是不要总说我们中国人不好的话,这个公司跟我签的合同是我要给他们3个星期的NOTICES,但是他们可以随时FIRE ME,可能给予相应的补偿。所以每个PARTY都是站在自己的角度上。还是这句话,就事论事,不要总是往中国人身上拉。我在家加拿大4-5年的经验是每个人都要争取对自己最好的机会,这样别人会佩服, 任何事情尽量的找客观理由,为自己辩护,不要总是谴责自己和同胞。Thanks again for all your suggestions

    已经签了OFFER又QUIT,什么惩罚,大家如有这方面经验的给些建议,提前感谢。去年半年才找到一份工作,今年一个月拿到两个OFFER。第一个OFFER 50K,已经签字,下个星期上班。但是又有另外一个70K在进行,口头OFFER已经给了,但是很大的公司,HR方面需要一些时间。想去第二个公司,但是合同没签,不敢通知第一个公司,怕意外。与第一家的合同看来看去,要提供3个星期的NOTICES,我理解的是上班以后,不知道上班之前QUIT是否包含在此。另外大家有无建议如何和第一家公司说QUIT,很是头痛。
    • 据说可以不去。这是我在辞职时老板说的,不会有假吧。

        • 问的这么急啊。在我签了一个新的Offer后去向老板辞职,并说已签了新的offer了,老板说签了offer也可以不去,offer是用来保护雇员的。听他说的好像不是在骗我。而且新单位没有准备我的办公室直到我通知他们我已辞职。
    • The only consequence is don't expect the first company to ever hire you again. Your credibility sucks! And you screw them up big time.

      • 别这么自卑。同期获得多个工作的多了去了,无论什么肤色种族,都挑自己合适的干。试用期内,随时可能走人,这是双向的,谁也没办法。
      • 特被同意楼上的观点,不要老往CHINESE身上扯。对方没准竖起大拇指Say, This Chinese Good, next time, we will give her better offer to keep her
    • 建议下个星期去上班。第二个Offer估计没有哪么快,你先去上班,试用期间的选择是双向的,你可以Quit只要有3周的Notice就行了,这3周的时间就是你和第二个Offer谈的Condition之一,这样你就有了Backup.
    • 头三个月是试用期,随时可以走的。
      • Yes according to Labor law. No for common practice. Just like minimum pay and 2 weeks notification are good enough according to law but not the common practice.
        • Thanks, do you mean if i quit the first company after one week I start working there. I will have no law problem if I don't give them 3 weeks notices as written in contract.
          • just tell the second co. you can start to work 3 weeks later after you get offer
            • The problem is they need me start around March 14, one person in that company quit, so they need someone to replace him. But all the papar work may not be ready before that date
          • There is no legal issue. Just one more company will be cautious for Chinese candidates. Labor market for Chinese new comers has been damaged by the people who don't follow the common practice.

        • Not about Chinese, it's about stereotype and reputation.
          It is difficult not to treat a person as a member of specific group but as an individual, unless he/she knows this group very well or knows this individual very well. Some managers like to hire Chineses and others don't -- kind of personal preference. They never speak out about that but you can feel it. Ask youself, if the first Chinese they hired screwed everything up, will they hire the second Chinese? If the first one is excellent, how about the next one. As a group, we need good reputation. It needs everyone's effort to make our lives easier in Canada -- include you and me.

    • 这种情况最有利。我当初是两个公司基本上同时要。你不要怕,就两边都讲明。他们会加价的。当初一个公司的HR劝了我讲了1个多小时,不但讲他们公司好,还说我要去的另一个公司不好(都是大公司)。可以想象吗?

    • some suggestion
      1. first you should wait the second company give you the offer in paper. Non-paper offer is useless can be overturned or canceled. So Go to work first.
      2. After you receive the paper offer, normally should give you may be 1 week to sign on, so you can take this time frame talk with your current employer just imply them you will leave soon.Tell them another company ( no mention the company name) give you more them 70k for the same position. Wait them to response,maybe give them 1 or 2 days no more, I mean to see if they give a counter offer to you above the 70k to let you stay.
      3. I do not suggest you to bargain on the second offer meanwhile bargain the first one .
      4. Before you sign on the writen offer of second company you can dicuss them with the right time to start. you should remember when you got the written offer you got some control on the situation
