Detailed Job responsibility and Competence Requirement as following:
Research Department Head (Location: Beijing; reports to CT head)
Responsibilities:
Strategy: Conduct technology and business analysis, communicate with Siemens business divisions, and synchronize with other corporate technology divisons to define focus R&D programs for the department and establish the proper project portfolio with continuous implementation strategy
? Budget: Secure the agreed budget, total revenue and group funding (project acquisition from Siemens business groups), for the department to realize the defined project portfolio year by year
? Staff: Recruit and manage people with the right skills to develop technology/business innovations for the defined project portfolio.
? Communication: Serve as the spokesperson for the department to promote the department reputation within Siemens, research communities, and general public
? Collaboration: Work together with other CT China departmetns to achieve overall CT China goals
Competencies (required skills, experiences and knowledge)
? Understand technology: With broad knowledge of related university/national lab/entrepreneur projects, industry products, technology, and markets.
? Nurture innovation: With proven track record to generate and stimulate business-centered technology innovations.
? Early business development: Strong ability to do early business analysis and market validation with potential customers and partners.
? Networking in Siemens: Identify and use Siemens customer and marketing strength and navigate through a big company structure.
? Abstraction and presentation: Excellent skill to abstract and synthesize information in a concise manner and communicate effectively with others.
? People skills: Possess effective people skills to guide and counsel program managers
? Pro-active and persistent: Highly resourceful, able to seek-out opportunities, self-motivated and pro-active with a strong dedication to take that extra step to make things happen.
? Deal with uncertainty: The ability to succeed in a dynamic working environment, be an “outside-the-box thinker,” and able to listen well.
? Perform under pressure: The ability to inspire the confidence of project teams, and be willing to contribute to their cause at all times.
? Financial analysis skill: The ability to gather and analyze financial data
? Education and working experience:
· PhD with a minimum of 7 years industrial R&D experience
· MS with a minimum of 10 years industrial R&D experience
