Position: Software Assurance Specialist – Entry Level (Reference No. CF0404)
Group: Software Assurance
Location: Mississauga, Ontario
Hiring Manager: Cyril Fernandes, Senior Vice President,
Operations Responsibilities
Work as a member of a highly committed and closely-knit Software
Assurance Team focused on creating high quality products,
including, and not limited to, the following:
Execute Validation Test Procedures in accordance with Kasten
Chase's ISO9001: 2000 certified quality system to achieve the
required test coverage and traceability
Configure test environments/equipment to simulate target
operational environments with a focus on Operating Systems and
application configuration.
Isolating and reproducing product non-conformances, identifying
and validating work-arounds and fixes.
Participate in functional Validation testing
Interface with Software Development team regarding product
deficiencies and test procedure demonstration.
Review end user documentation
Work with clients participating in Field Trials as part of the
Validation process
Travel to client sites may be required
Assisting new customers with the installation of solutions.
Delivering on-site training/knowledge transfer as required.
Independently identify knowledge required to execute
responsibilities and implement action to address any knowledge
deficiencies.
Qualifications
Experience
A 'test to break' attitude
An ability to take the point of view of the customer
Strong affinity for end users regarding user interfaces (GUI
Validation)
Operational experience with Microsoft Windows, Linux, UNIX
Familiarity with concepts and/or implementation and
administration of the following is an asset
System and network security.
Network management and operations support in a production
environment.
Microsoft Exchange in a production environment
SAN, NAS and DAS Technologies
Disk and tape implementation in SAN, NAS and DAS
Familiarity with basic database management concepts related to
day-to-day operation, tuning, backup and recovery is an asset
Education and Training
Technologist level (3 year course) accreditation in Computer
Engineering Programming, Analysis and/or Technology.
An understanding of:
Operating System installation and system configuration.
TCP/IP and related networking protocols.
SCSI
Familiarity with the following would be beneficial:
SAN
NAS
DAS
A wide variety of PC communication applications, equipment, and
components
Skills
Technical aptitude and the ability to grasp abstract concepts
quickly.
A strong desire for quality and an attention to detail.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills - verbal and
written
Ability to work and learn independently, manage multiple
assignments and meet deadlines effectively.
Flexibility to manage deadline driven work assignments.
