RISK MANAGEMENT ANALYST
The successful candidate will be a part of a small team responsible for price forecasting, assessing Bruce Power's market risk exposure and analyzing markets and forward contracting requirements for the Power Sales team. In particular, the individual will:
- Prepare within-year, mid-term and long-term electricity price and income forecasts
- Assess the company's overall market position; · Analyze contracts and other risk management tactics to determine acceptable prices and volumes
- Gather and analyze intelligence on the Ontario and neighbouring electricity markets including future demand growth, new generation projects, environmental issues, competitor behaviour, market rules and regulatory developments.
Candidates must have a university degree, be familiar with the technical and economic principles of electricity generation and supply and the operation of competitive energy markets. Candidates should be proficient in Microsoft Excel and the use of advanced computerized modelling tools to solve complex probabilistic and/or analytical problems.
The successful candidate must be flexible, have a high degree of initiative, self-motivation and the ability to work with minimal guidance in a team environment. Strong written, verbal, commercial and numerical skills as well as an understanding of power system fundamentals are essential. A knowledge of the IMO Market Rules and those of neighbouring electricity markets is preferable.
