本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛This is the first call for advanced registration of most anticipated
CPACTT/COCCC Summer BBQ event, which will take place on August 28th,
Saturday, from 11am to 4pm. This year CPACTT (http://www.cpactt.net/)
co-organizes the event with COCCC
(http://www.geocities.com/cocccOnline/) and we expect to have over
250 people attending this big, historical and exciting local Chinese
event. It’s the first time that major Mandarin and Cantonese
communities join force in KW, Cambridge and Guelph area.
Since this event is going to be a historical one, it's only fitting
that we select a historical site, the Steckle Farm in Kitchener. The
farm is named in honor of John Steckle, a farmer, weaver, and pastor
of Mennonite faith, originally from Switzerland. He and his wife,
Esther Bleam, built the Homestead in 1833. The site was the ideal
location due to its proximity to a spring/artesian well, which had a
history of native use that predated European occupation. The Steckle
Homestead has remained in the hands of the Steckle family since the
time of the original settlers, with many of the original buildings
still intact. In 1983 the J. Steckle Heritage Homestead was
designated a heritage property in the City of Kitchener under the
Ontario Heritage Act. In 1988 a non-profit corporation was
established and mandated to preserve the 10.2 acre site as a basis
for education and recreation. Follow the link below to learn more
about the farm:
http://www.web.net/~jsteckle/index.html
The food on our menu includes: hamburgers, hotdogs, salad, corns,
watermelon, freezie etc. We also plan to organize family games and
special performance such as:
Tug-of-war
3-legged race
Balloon animals
volleyball game
Shaolin performance
Tachi performance
Face painting
Card game (yes, we will bring cards!)
Family oriented games from JieJie.
Many more
There is also an indoor straw playground and the swing rope (in the
barn) are open for kids to play with. Let's make it clear it is
parents/guardian’s responsibility for kids' safety. A guided tour is
also organized for know a bit more about the history of the farm.
So much fun and so much to see. So come one and come all!
Please join us to have a great summer BBQ party. Here are the event
