my 2 cents here: 1. forget about it if you don't have a BS, MS, or PhD degree in CANADA, better start by getting a BS here. It is much easier to become a nurse or some other professionals.

本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛2. It is probably easier for you to get into a US med school where you will have about 1% chance of getting in. But the tuition is about us$50,000 a year for 4 years.

3. Once you are in a Med school, you will most likely be able to get your MD degree in 4 years no matter how poorly you do in your classes, unless you burned down the Dean's office or stealed your supervising doctor's BMW.

4. BUT, to get into a good specialty, you will have to work your ass off in the 4 years of your medical trainging, get straight A in all classes and kiss some big shots' smelly asses at the same time ( to get good reference letters). Pediatrics as you wanted is not a very hot speciaty (unlike surgery or radioloty), but you still need good marks and letters to get in. The training after graduation is 4-6 years.

If you just want to make money, there are many other easier ways. If you want to become a doctor so that you feel accomplished, and enjoy working 100+ hours a week( sometimes, in some speciaties), then go for it no matter how difficult it may seem. Making money is one thing, feel that you are important, by saving lives and make people feel better is what make all the tremendous efforts worthwhile.

            第二步是完成医学院的学业，获得MD。大约要四年时间，花费10万左右。
            第三步是当住院医生，并考医生执照。大约要三年时间。住院医生很辛苦，工资也不高(三万多点)。
            完成这三步，你可以当一般的医生了。但如果要当专科医生，还要继续学习考试。
            在医学院和住院医生中，每年都有人被淘汰。
