请高手点评Canon Powershot G3 & Olympus C-750UZ

以下是专业网站关于这两款DC的几项性能比较:
Canon Powershot G3 Olympus C-750UZ
Max resolution: 2272 x 1704 -- 2288 x 1712
Low resolution: 1600 x 1200,1024 x 768,640 x 480 -- 2048 x 1536,1600 x 1200,1280 x 960,1024 x 768,640 x 480
Effective pixels: 3.9 million -- 3.9 million
Sensor photo detectors: 4.1 million -- 4.13 million
ISO rating: 50, 100, 200, 400 -- Auto, 100, 200, 400
Zoom wide (W): 35 mm -- 38 mm
Zoom tele (T): 140 mm (4 x) -- 380 mm (10 x)
Digital zoom: up to x3.6 -- up to 4x
Auto focus accuracy: TTL, FlexiZone -- TTL
Normal focus range: 50cm -- 60cm
Macro focus range: 5cm /15cm -- 7cm
Storage included: 32 MB CompactFlash -- 16 MB xD Picture Card
Battery: Canon Lithium-Ion -- AA (4) batteries(NiMH recommended)

    • I would choose C-750 if I were u, only becuase the 10X optical range
u will find it is very useful, u can take picture of ur kids at 20 meters away.
And also Olympus has more manual control options, that can give u more fun for photophraphing. But generally, Canon G3 has some advantage in signal processing. It can provide better image quality at the same file size. But if you have sufficient memory, that won't be a problem.
Never believe the level definition of others. Just think about what do u need.
      • If you are pursuing to improve your photographying skill, go for the G3. If you are a dude only intrested in picturing beautiful wowen from 30m away, go for C750.
Elec, how did you draw the conclusion that C750 has better manual control?
        • Tele zoom len will give u great convenient if you want to take some pic in a concert or for a sport activity.
Dude? real dude will use Canon 400 4L lens instead of those stuff. haha,
        • I've never declined that G3 is a very good DC. Actually it has another advantage tiger didn't mention. It has bigger CCD (1/1.8), while C750 only has 1/2.5
        • I just don't like someone simplyly category the camera without any experience of using it
          • Sorry for my previous short answer. Here is some details.
本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛People has different taste. There is no best camera but there is one meet your need better. So Tiger's question supposed to be asked this way: which camera best fits my need, G3 Vs C750? No one can answer this question before knowing what he needs.

I think I agree with Elac that one suppose to actaully use camera to appreciate it. The problem is that you don't have such a chance until you buy one. Given not knowing what he needs here are some my considerations:

            Do you really neet 10x?
            If yes then no choice.
If no, G3 covers 35~140 which is the most useful range from landscape to portrait. It's a shame that not many DC cover 28 mm, except Minota D7i, Nikon 5000 and 5400. 28 mm is useful for landscape but if you mostly do street photo and not very wide landscape, 35 mm should be perfectly acceptable. BTW, you can do stitch as an alternative. Focal lengh around 100mm with large arpture is best for portait, which is covered by both camers.

G3's lens is one stop faster than C750. Does it matter for you? One stop faster means you can use one time faster shutter speed at same lighting condition. When you do portait, larger arpture can provide better background blur. Professionl portait lens mostly =< F2.0.

Do you care the convinience from the swing LCD from G3? Sometimes useful when doing self photo or at difficult shooting position.

Do you need remote control? It could be fun for someone.

Do you care RAW format? G3's raw format take 1/3 storage space of the TIFF raw format from C750. Both formats don't loss any information.

Is the higher maxium shutter speed on G3 is better for you? Sometimes. In bright daylight, when I do portrait with F1.8 lens, even 1/4000s is too slow. A faster maxium speed will allow you use a larger arpture which will give you better background blur. G3 even provides build-in ND filter which will assure you can use the maxium arpture in bright day. Of course, don't count this as a advantage if you don't do portrait at all.

Do you care lens block a corner of optical view finder on G3 when zooming out? It sucks but it's ture.

G3's optical view finder Vs. C750's EVF, you like which one? Most people like EVF because it looks like SLR. You have to find out yourself. I don't like it because it's too dark outdoor. I don't remove my sun glasses when I take picture. Don't laugh, I'm not kidding. On the other hand, G3 view finder doesn't display exposure information, which sucks again. I have to move my eyes back to LCD if I want to change the combination of the exposure parameters.

Do you care bettery life? How fast they drain bettery and do you need an additional set of bettery? How much you need spend to have an additional set and a charger?

I didn't compare the image quality of the two cameras. But don't put too much consideration on it. Photograph is mostly about composition and lighting so minus image quality difference is unimportant. But do check the review sites to find out what is the usable ISO setting. Almost all DC claim up to ISO400, but do some judegment with your own eyes on their sample images. Are they usable at that high levle? Long focal lens specailly relay on higher ISO setting.

About the interface, I appreciate G3's EOS style. C750 could be even better which I can't say nothing because I don't have any expereince. Just make sure important function aren't buried in layers of menu like the poor Nikon does.

Just my personaI thought, I could be totally wrong. Thanks for reading and please ingore my spelling error.更多精彩文章及讨论,请光临枫下论坛 rolia.net
            • Totally agree, the best DC is the one meets ur needs. That was why I said
"I would chose ... if I were u". In regarding of the viewfinder. Do u change the exposure value frequently with G3? For me again, it is totally unacceptable to change it from searching the menu through the LCD when the composition has been done from the viewfinder whatever how good the menu is setup. Esp if you have used the SLR before. After all it is compact DC. Then the actual auto exposure is extremely important.
I just have such a suspect that many ppl are influenced by dpreview.com, that is a good and pretty professional website. but the interesting thing is they never give high score to olympus DC, but the feedback on its forum towards olympus from common user are excellent for most of the time.
              • I don't have a G3. I end up with a DSLR but G3/G2 will be
my choice if I need buy a P&S. It's still my choice as a walk-around camera even after the DSLR, if I got more money.

No, on G3 You simply turn the dial like a SLR does to change the exposure. But you need look at the LCD on its top or its back to watch your result. It's not a problem at all because many use the back LCD as VF. Still Canon's interface is among the industry best, where you really see the shine from its EOS system.

Tigertiger, what's your personal taste for your new toy? which only you can tell.
