We are a group of desperate applicants of family reunion, writing to you to complain the family immigrant process in Hong Kong.

Several months ago, unfortunately, our applications were assigned to be processed by Consulate General of Canada in Hong Kong, where the processing speed is so slow compared with that of Beijing. As we know, some of our friends, whose cases are processed in Beijing, have got their visa just in three or four months. But the family reunion cases in Hong Kong have to be processed at least six or seven months before we get our visa. Why do we have to wait so long? We pay the same application process fee as those of Beijing applicants, but we have to wait much much longer. Six months! 180 days! 259,200 minutes! What a painful waiting experience! We are counting minutes and even seconds! We are so missing our husbands or wives!

Dear Mr. Minister, could you please kindly consider our situation? What we ask is the same treatment as Beijing. What we need is to see our dears as early as possible. We are now asking you a favor to urge those visa officers in HK office to process our cases faster, just from a humane point of view.

We appreciate your time and look forward to your earliest response.

    Dear Minister,
    I'm writing to you to complain the family immigrant process in Hongkong Visa Office.
    Nowadays, a family(spouse) immigrant case will be closed within 4 months in
    Beijing Visa Office normally. But things totally changed in HK office, according to the nearly processed cases in HK office, it will cost us(my wife and I) at leaest over half a year to wait!
    I have paied the same application process fee as those people who applied/are appling in Beijing office, but we will surfer a terrible long-time process. We do not think that we should get an UNFAIR treatment just because we selected a very bad visa office to process our case.
    I hope if you could ask those visa officers in HK office to deal with those family immigrant cases
    with a humane attitude, or, if they could not take such a job indeed, please let them transfer our case to other visa office (such as Beijing Visa Office).

        我想大家都应该是怀着真诚美好的初衷来到这个论坛，所以友好交流应该是基调，所以对别人的只要不是损害论坛气氛的言论要有起码的尊重。XXMAN，不知道你正处于一种什么样的状态，大家都有发表言论的权利，但建议你在提交的时候多考虑，不要招致别人的反感，否则只能说你不适合在这里，建议你只是旁观好了。

            We are a group of desperate applicants of family reunion under the new regulation. Writing to you to complain the family immigrant process in Hong Kong.

            Several months ago, unfortunately, our applications were assigned to be processed by Consulate of Canada in Hong Kong.

            The earliest applications we know was sent out in November 2002 and more than 8 months have passed and our request to be re-united with our wives, husbands has gone unanswered. The only response we get is to check online only to receive a message “in process”, we can not get anyone to quantify how long that is.
            Most of us received the letters from Hong Kong 1-2 months after we sent out our applications and asking for “additional information about your family”, which it has been already INCLUDED in our application kits. The officers in Hong Kong are really working hard to make thing slower.

            As a matter of fact, some of us did apply to the Canadian Embassy in Hong Kong for a visitors visa. Their applications were immediately rejected on the basis that the immigration for a ‘Family Reunion” would not take longer than 6 months. We have always been told it was “first priority” for a spouse. It is fact that in Beijing, the process only takes 3-4 months.

            Canada requires qualified people to come here to share their expertise, We come to this country with our knowledge, hope and faith Most of us are taxpayer working in this country, most of us are highly educated engineers and have much to contribute to this country. Our family are very important to us and we feel we have waited long enough as you can well appreciate.

            All we ask is the equal treatment as Beijing. More staff may be needed in Hong Kong Consulate or you need qualified staff to work in this area.
