I suggest you to download an visiting visa application kit from Beijing's Canada consulate general office website then do a research on it. By the supporting documents required, you can guess what the officer want you to show him/her when processing your application!
From my experence, I think an applicant must prove two facts to offcier:
1. the applicant has enough money (economic ability) to support all his/her cost in Canada including travelling cost, he/she will not be a burden to Canada, the money can be from applicant him/herself or from sponser.
2. the applicant doesn't has intention to immigrate to Canada, he/she should has solid proof to show that he/she will return to China before visa expired.
